Ruy Berumen holds a degree in Architecture from the Universidad Iberoamericana. He participated in academic exchanges with the firm EMBT in Barcelona and the SCI-Arc university in Los Angeles, experiences that expanded his way of understanding and approaching architectural practice.

He has collaborated with studios such as CHA:COL in Los Angeles, Frida Escobedo, and PRODUCTORA in Mexico City, developing residential, commercial, public, tourism, and cultural projects. In 2021, he was selected by the Sistema Nacional de Jóvenes Creadores with "Arqueología de asfalto y concreto" (Asphalt and Concrete Archaeology), a project in which he explores and questions the contemporary urban landscape. In 2026, as resident of Laguna, he developed "La esquina ochavada” (The Octagonal Corner), an investigation about public space in the Doctores neighborhood.

He currently runs an independent and multidisciplinary practice spanning different scales, from the production of models, ceramic pieces, furniture, and temporary installations, to architectural projects and research regarding public space, the city, and its social structures. His work is built from disciplinary intersection, collaboration as a method, and careful attention to the context of each project.
